SALARY: £36K, plus pension and performance related pay 
LOCATION: Stevenage and working across group sites and employer premises 
FIXED TERM 8 MONTHS

JOB PURPOSE
You will be required to teach and assess engineering course work in levels 2 -4.

ROLE SPECIFICATION
Assess, guide and support students using a variety of methods to maximise learner potential. Work with students and teaching delivery team, to ensure that the curriculum is fully compliant with all relevant awarding bodies
  • Develop and agree realistic plans for learning with learners using stretch smart target system via the client’s One File electronic portfolio system

  • Support students to reflect on and evaluate their progress through setting personalised targets and the tracking & completion of paper based / electronic portfolios (One File)

  • Plan assessment process with learners, including establishing employer participation

  • Implement quality assurance processes for one or more college programmes to enable consistency in assessments and quality in delivering teaching and learning

  • Plan and co-ordinate the personalised learning plans and routes and destinations for each of their students

  • Review of learner progress including reinforcement of health and safety, equal opportunities, career aims and progression

  • Liaison with Internal Quality Assurers and Awarding Body Standards Verifiers to ensure learner portfolios satisfy awarding body criteria

  • Monthly updates to Internal Quality Assurer on learner progress towards targets and within specified time frames (via monthly tracking sheet)

  • Enable learner achievement within specified guidelines in line with SFA audit requirements and Work-Based Competence (QCF) Codes of Practice

  • Completion of relevant approved paperwork, computerised records and monthly tracking documents as instructed

  • Undertake and maintain a log of continuous professional development to ensure skills and knowledge are up to date at all times. This may include attending training and development activities and/or completing ‘work experience to ensure current occupation competence

  • Contribute to the implementation of new systems and procedures

  • Attend relevant meetings, including at least two standardisation meetings each year in each vocational area, and attendance at Awarding Body Standards Verifier Visits if required

  • To undertake such duties as may be reasonably requested by the line manager or any senior manager or Director                       

  • To complete detailed individual reports for Apprentice Employers in accordance with College Calendar requirements


PERSON SPECIFICATION
  • A degree or equivalent Engineering qualified lecturer who has experience delivering Industry standard engineering programmes and Apprenticeships ranging from level 2 to level 4

  • Experience of teaching BTEC and HNC/D diploma levels 2, 3 & 4 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems and Instrumentation, PLCs and control systems; Further Mathematics and Further Mechanical Principles

  • Devices; Communications for Engineering Technicians; CNC

  • A qualified assessor with LEVEL 3 NVQ RQF CERTIFICATE IN ASSESSING VOCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT (FORMERLY THE A1 AWARD) who has

  • experience of assessing on/off site activities relating to apprenticeship frameworks

  • A qualified quality assurer with LEVEL 4 NVQ RQF INTERNAL QUALITYQUALIFICATION) who has experience of assuring the quality of on/off site assessment activities relating to apprenticeships and full time learners
