Description
The job holder is responsible for the delivery of training, instruction and assessment of young people and adults undertaking Engineering Apprenticeships, Foundation Learning or Engineering Skills Training to the standards required  agencies, local authorities and awarding bodies. Main Duties:
1. Provides safety training in both theoretical and practical forms to ensure that all persons undergoing training are aware of and conform to the Health &; Safety at Work Act and other relevant regulations governing workshop practice.
2. Provides engineering skills and knowledge training in both theoretical and practical forms, using the appropriate technique for the topic/session.
3. Uses their technical knowledge of CNC Machining to ensure students are progressing correctly and use equiptment safely.
4. Prepares and plans training sessions, materials and resources in accordance with the standards required  and the appropriate awarding body.
5. Undertakes the activity of assessor of NVQs/VRQs and Functional Skills. Plans, prepares and undertakes assessments of competence against the awarding body standards, both
practical skills and underpinning knowledge.
6. Ensures that all relevant paperwork relating to training and assessment, as well as company business, is completed on time and correctly.
7. Undertakes appropriate Health and Safety and First Aid Training and shares with other instructors the collective responsibility for Health and Safety and First Aid within the Centre.
8. Attends day or evening classes, as required, to obtain a Teacher Training qualification and Assesor award.
9. Attends other training and education events as identified to continue professional development in all aspects of the job role and as required by award bodies, government agencies and local authorities.
10. Applies the Company’s disciplinary procedure in respect of trainee discipline.

Employer Engagement
1. Open Days: Informs employers of the details of the training that is conducted within the area of instruction, how it is delivered and to what standards.
2. Participates in and represents the company at organised publicity and marketing activities through clearly defined lines of responsibility.
3. In conjunction with the Department Manager, visits any client company for the purposes of training analysis and quotations for future business.

Other Tasks
1. Maintains the day to day engineering equipment and resources in the Training Centre within the limits of ability and available time.
2. Ensures that the Centre training area utilised is maintained in a clean and safe condition.
3. Ensures any materials required for training are stocked to a minimum level or ordered in advance to allow training to proceed uninterrupted.
4. Counsels, advises and aids personal development of youth clients whilst on any training programme.
5. Devises, plans, prepares and delivers custom training for client company staff, either in the Centre or at the client’s site.
6. Carries out on-site assessments of candidates for NVQ’s, when needed.
7. Supports the Training Team in all aspects of delivering the Company’s business.
8. Keeps up to date with Government Funded Programmes delivered
9. Executes and records fire alarm test on a weekly basis, accurately recording and reporting any outages.
10. Promotes and upholds the Company’s commitment, philosophy and policies for Employer Responsiveness, Continuous Improvement, Investor in People, Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Prevent, Equality and Diversity and other related processes, procedures and working instructions and methods of working incorporated in the organisation’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
