- An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional person to take a community-based training provider on to the next stage of its development. Our client is a prime contractor for the West Midlands Combined Authority delivering AEB in a range of sector specific qualifications with specialism in ESOL, English and Maths provision. This distinctive company, boasts excellent facilities, good financial health and was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in October 2021. The Training Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the training staff consisting of both employed and self-employed tutors and will be responsible for achieving the contractual targets of the Company. The Training Manager will have overall responsibility for meeting KPI’s and report directly to the Board of Directors and will liaise with other departments within the group of companies. As determined by the Board of Directors they will have a strong understanding of skills, issues in key industry sectors and be effective in engaging with businesses and responding rapidly to their training needs. They will inspire and motivate staff and students to achieve excellence, ensuring that the Company continues to maintain exceptional standards and meet contractual obligations. Further, to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders, manage adult education budgets, meet income targets, and liaise with external bodies/agencies and partnerships. The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum of degree level and have over 2 years’ experience of working within the AEB budget.
General Responsibilities:
- Attend relevant meetings as directed by the Operations Director.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to role, through self-study and personal/ professional development and ensure knowledge and skills are disseminated with colleagues and curriculum staff
- Promote equal opportunities and implement the quality and Diversity policy
- Provide a secure, safe, and friendly working environment including implementation of the Health and Safety Policy
- Demonstrate active support for the organisational values
- Complete all documents necessary to comply with policies in relation to supervised staff, including sickness forms, appraisal forms, etc.
- Ensure the registration of learners and clients and the claiming of certifications on the correct qualifications and frameworks within the designated time frames.
- Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with this grade
- Quality Improvement and Success
- Contribute to the strategic plan
- Implement a quality improvement plan which will ensure continuous improvements in success rates and will take/ maintain the provision.
- Contribute to the Performance Review quality assurance process
- Use available data sets to monitor performance against trends and national averages, and to take action as necessary to address poor performance
- In liaison with the Operations Director, set targets for attendance, retention and success, and ensure that staff strive to achieve these targets for the groups they are responsible for
- Coordinate the provision for robust assessment, IV/moderation across the company, through liaison with relevant staff.
- Quality assurance and audit of documentation files, ensuring that staff are keeping accurate and up-to-date information.
- Ensure there is regular and systematic feedback and communication with students, employers, and external agencies to inform quality improvement as needed.
- Work with the Operations Director to ensure maximum funding and efficiency in the planning of the funded curriculum portfolio
- Ensure all courses being delivered have been subject to the Course Approval procedure, and that external AB approval has been received
- Work with the Operations Director to plan and implement course and staff timetables to provide learners with an individualised, well-organised, high quality learning experience
- Plan permanent and part-time staffing hours to meet targets and ensure staff utilisation is maximised
- Effectively manage internal & external staff workloads to ensure utilisation is optimised.
- Contribute to the planning and review of SLA activity with external partner organisations.
- Liaise with Operations Director to ensure effective and efficient recruitment and progression of students/clients
- Ensure staff attend promotional events, open evenings and activities and contribute to the positive promotion of our client
- Ensure course information leaflets are accurate and up-to-date and accurately represent the company portfolio
- Undertake, contribute to and participate in marketing activities on behalf of the team
- Liaise with external organisations to facilitate enrichment for clients and students
- Liaise with employers to build new contacts and create new commercial business opportunities
