- As Head of Employment, Development and Training you will be at the forefront of our clients mission to empower individuals who have faced obstacles in their education journey. Your role will involve using and developing VR technology and innovative teaching methods to develop skills and workplace understanding, ensuring that people using our clients services can compete fairly when seeking paid employment.
While you might not have direct experience with VR, you will have a keen interest in developing innovative learning opportunities that focus on giving people the skills to be ready for the workplace and you will have the ability to collaborate with and influence others to achieve this goal.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Contribute as a Manager to the effective operations of the organisation as a whole
- Contribute to the development of the organisation’s aim of becoming a national provider of high quality bespoke learning and development solutions
- Management and supervision of staff involved in all aspects of training and development
- Review and upgrade FST’s current training programmes to include full utilisation of technologies available, including VR and other assistive technologies, to support workforce members overcome barriers to learning, embedding this across the organisation.
- Review, develop and promote new and existing courses at Woolwich and in the wider community including developing course plans, incorporating assistive technologies to ensure improved learning outcomes.
- Contribute to the creation of new immersive VR educational content that simulates real-world workplace scenarios.
- Establish effective marketing and outreach strategies to ensure FST reaches its target audiences and people are given the opportunities for development.
- Devise and develop strategies and systems to make training materials accessible to learners from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all learning and development packages are being delivered consistently at all levels of the organisation supporting other team members to develop the knowledge needed to deliver effective training and development activities.
- Implement continuous assessment techniques to measure learner and staff progress and adapt VR programmes accordingly.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest educational research and incorporate new ideas and approaches into our VR curriculum.
- Support the Employment Development and Training Worker (EDTW) in developing relationships with local employers with a view to opening up paid employment opportunities for FST workforce and partners.
- Provide support to the Basic Skills Trainer to achieve the organisations objectives.
- Work in accordance within the limits and parameters set out in the companies policies and procedures by the Board, Chief Executive and other executive officers.
- A relevant qualification e.g. degree or demonstrable experience of designing, developing and delivering training for learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience of using technologies, platforms, programmes and software for training and enabling purposes.
- An interest in using technology to eliminate or reduce barriers to learning.
- Experience of managing and developing teams.
- Experience in structuring and developing training programmes and courses, particularly focused on skills development.
- An understanding of how to promote development opportunities to potential learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of using VR as an educational tool is desirable.
