- Our client are seeking to appoint a Curriculum Manager for Early Years, who would be responsible for planning, implementing and delivering courses. The ideal candidate will develop provision, teach on a range of programmes and line manage a team of teaching staff. Courses currently offered include full time programmes including T Level in Education and Childcare, part time adult courses and apprenticeships at Level 2 and Level 3.
You should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area and possess an advanced level teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, together with at least 3 years’ recent teaching experience in Early Years. You should also have some curriculum management/co-ordination and team leadership experience, including supporting and developing Lecturers with their teaching practice and have the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Role Purpose:
The purpose of the post is to ensure the recruitment, retention and achievement of students within the post holder’s area of responsibility, to deputise for the line manager and to manage the curriculum and staffing arrangements for a cluster of courses.
Duties:
Support for Students -
- To ensure the implementation of the tutorial procedures, including the effective use of Attendance Co-ordinators and named tutors.
- To ensure the implementation of the basic skills strategy.
- To ensure the sharing, organisation and up-dating of resources are accessible to staff and students.
- To implement the Careers and Guidance Policies.
- To liaise with the Student and Learning Support team to ensure that students receive maximum benefit from these services.
- To teach on a range of programmes according to your specialism (see above for courses currently offered in the curriculum; courses are subject to change)
- To co-ordinate and advise on the production of all relevant course materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment schedules.
- To ensure the development and implementation of new schemes, including submissions to awarding bodies.
- To ensure that company policies for the delivery of curriculum, including functional skills, are implemented fully.
- To maximise the use of IT within the curriculum.
- To ensure the courses maximise the students’ employability skills through the integration of employer involvement within the curriculum design and to build on the company/ sections employability targets in conjunction with the managers.
- To implement the companies Quality Policy.
- To ensure the implementation of the target setting procedures, including the use of value-added measures.
- To ensure there is appropriate moderation and verification of assessment processes.
- To collate and analyse performance data ensuring that all staff are aware of improvement requirements.
- To provide leadership and direction in the implementation of sound practice in teaching, learning and assessment.
- To prepare course and staff timetables as directed by the line manager.
- To ensure the maximum use of accommodation and staffing resources.
- To ensure that students and staff take pride and responsibility for the learning environment, including the tidiness, comfort and safety of accommodation within the remit of the business.
- To assist the manager in the management of staff, providing supervision to a staff team.
- To assist the manager in inducting, supporting and developing staff, especially the support and management of agency staff.
- To assist the manager in the booking of part-time lecturers.
- To carry out staff appraisal and teaching observations, as agreed with the manager, and to assist in the development and training of all staff within the post holder’s remit.
- To assist in development planning and the construction of the companies course portfolio.
- To assist in the management of the centre, including contribution to marketing, business, and development planning.
