The Vacancy

Due to growth in their provision, they are looking for a new Carpentry Lecturer/Assessor to join the team. The successful candidate will work to support, teach and assess apprentices and part time learners in the Carpentry field. They will also work to grow business and develop new, existing and emerging relationship with employers.  Our client are looking for a motivated and organised, team player, passionate about developing and supporting opportunities for apprentices.
 
Specific Responsibilities
  1. To provide induction, assessment, training, coaching, teaching and assessment to apprentices who are undertaking Apprenticeship Programmes and supporting qualification(s)
  2. Teach, asses, support, advise and assist apprentices during their training both at college and in the workplace.
  3. Deal with queries when supervising apprentices.
  4. Participate in the promotional and marketing aspects of the college.
  5. Undertake initial assessment of apprentices and assist in the apprentice actions planning
 
  1. To assess apprentices’ progress and maintain records of assessments of learning carried out.                 
  2. To create an engaging learning programme that inspires and motivates apprentices to improve their knowledge, skills and behaviours in the field of Site Carpentry.

  3. Develop a flexible learning programme that accommodates group delivery and 1:1 delivery, offering a digital learning platform in addition to traditional face to face learning opportunities.
  4. Deliver knowledge-based learning modules in accordance with the IFA assessment guidelines.
  5. Conduct regular assessment of learning through workplace observations and professional discussions.
  6. Create bespoke learning plans for each individual apprentice to stretch and challenge their ongoing development.
  7. Timely reviews of apprentices progress to ensure apprentices are progressing in line with their individual learning plan, ensuring timely achievements.
  8. Regular gathering of employer feedback to ensure satisfaction levels are high and apprentice engagement is maintained.
  9. Ongoing curriculum review to ensure it is innovative and impactful.
  10. Working with the Functional Skills Team to ensure that functional English, Maths and ICT is embedded into the curriculum, ensuring upskilling in all key areas.
  11. Use of the college e-portfolio system to evidence and log all learning interventions, demonstrating the ongoing progress of each apprentice throughout their programme duration. Including OTJ hours, apprenticeship standard and attached qualifications are continually moving forwards in a timely manner.
  12. Deliver in accordance with the standard operating model, ensuring compliance with the ESFA funding guidelines.
  13. Prepare apprentices for their end point assessment, conducting mock assessments to ensure readiness.
  14. Working with college and stand IQA to establish and ensure high quality internal pre gateway and qualification checks are carried out regularly.
  15. Maintain accurate records of apprentice assessments and achievements.
  16. Accredit successful completion of apprentice tasks including work-based activities in line with college assessment and verification policy, completing all related administrative activities.
  17. Effective delivery of work-based assessment and monitoring/target setting within the area of competence.
