About Us

Our client delivers high-quality apprenticeships and short courses, specialising in specific sectors with dedicated Business Units. The team is passionate about delivering learning that truly makes a difference—not just training for training’s sake.

Our client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced (DBS) check.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Children, Young People and Families Assessor to join the Learning & Development team. You’ll work collaboratively with learners, employers, and stakeholders to help learners and employees reach their full potential.

You will assess and support adult learners completing qualifications such as:
• TQUK Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (RQF)
• Children, Young People & Families Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard
• TQUK Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (RQF)

The Children, Young People and Families Assessor is a blended role—primarily home-based with remote delivery, plus regular workplace visits to support and assess learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote our client’s training and qualifications to employers and learners.
• Enrol learners onto apprenticeships and other qualifications.
• Provide information, advice, guidance, and initial assessments to identify learning needs.
• Ensure ESFA funding compliance, including recording in-learning evidence and Off-the-Job Training Hours via e-portfolio systems.
• Visit learners in the workplace as needed.
• Monitor and record learner progress monthly to ensure timely achievement.
• Deliver engaging teaching and learning for knowledge and functional skills components.
• Mentor and coach learners, addressing barriers to learning.
• Maintain professional development, including undertaking your own qualifications.
• Liaise regularly with your line manager and quality assurance team.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 1 year’s experience in supporting children and young people in a residential setting.
• Experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Level 3 (or above) in Residential Childcare (essential).
• Assessor qualification (CAVA, A1, D32, or equivalent).
• Level 2 (or above) in English, Maths, and ICT.
• Experience supporting children and young people in a residential setting.
• Confident in using Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and e-portfolio platforms (e.g., OneFile, Smart Assessor).

Desirable

• Teaching qualification (AET, PTTLS, or equivalent).
• Additional industry-specific qualifications.

Skills & Attributes

• Outstanding organisational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with flexibility and resilience.
• Relationship-building and networking skills.
• Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.

Additional Information

• Must be eligible to work in the UK.
• Satisfactory employment references and enhanced DBS check required.
• Role involves travel to learner workplaces.

Rewards and Benefits

• All staff benefit from 25 days annual leave + 8 Bank Holidays.
• Staff who have passed 2 years’ service receive an additional 2 days’ leave plus 1 extra day per additional year of service, up to and including 5 years.
• Health Insurance: all staff have access to the Health Assured Plan.
• Our client shuts down for over a week over the festive period so everyone can spend time with their family and friends.
