- Purpose of the job
To be responsible for the leadership and management of curriculum areas; ensuring outstanding teaching, learning, assessment, and student success are achieved whilst maximising student recruitment and growth. All duties to be carried out with full compliance to College systems and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Engage with and maintain good working relationships with Employers and key stakeholders resulting in key strategic growth of provision.
- Liaise with internal Marketing team with promotion and recruitment activities
- Line manage staff involved in teaching delivery; assist with recruitment and selection of teaching staff
- Manage the course planning, scheduling, room planning and timetabling
- Support the Senior Management Team and Assistant Principals in communicating and executing the College’s strategic plan
- Promote the vision, mission, and values of the College
- Contribute to the on-going development of the English & Maths Strategy and be responsible for its successful implementation.
- Manage the agreed Department devolved budget and ensure the effective and efficient use of allocated resources, including the deployment of staff resources and the planning and completion of timetables for staff
- Promote the highest professional standards to students and staff in all aspects of the role, maintaining a visible presence around the College and leading by example
- Assist the Assistant Principal in ensuring that the curriculum area delivers outstanding attendance, achievement, and progression rates.
- Provide leadership within the curriculum area, developing and implementing operational and improvement plans in line with college objectives.
- Teaching qualification minimum L5
- Safeguarding and Prevent Level 1 Certificate (or a willingness to work towards one within a stipulated time period)
- Demonstrate an understanding of English & maths curriculum in an FE context.
- Knowledge of regulatory bodies and inspection requirements (Ofsted/QAA).
- Demonstrate an understanding of teaching within the FE sector.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the issues, trends and initiatives in the Further and Higher Education (in an FE context) sectors.
- Demonstrate awareness of current curriculum.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the strategies required to effectively lead and manage English and maths curriculum.
- Demonstrate relevant and recent experience of working within FE Sector in a leadership role (e.g. Programme Area Leader, Curriculum Team Leader).
- Demonstrate experience of developing effective performance indicators.
- Demonstrate experience of addressing and resolving under performance, in both staff and learners.
- Demonstrate experience of quality improvement and maintenance.
- Demonstrate implementation of effective strategies to develop learner’s employability skills.
- Demonstrate inspection experience and recent inspection readiness activities (Ofsted and QAA).
- Full, Clean driving license and own transport (with business insurance) as travelling is required
