Black Belt Business Coach/Project Manager


This is a national role.

We are currently looking for a “Black Belt Business Coach/Project Manager” for one of our great clients.

In this role the Business Coach will be responsible for developing Lean, C.I & Six Sigma training content. They will train and coach teams to deliver business critical improvement project work and support the development of operational behaviour change.
The vehicle for achieving this will be the delivery and application of the following Apprenticeship standards.

Level 3 Improvement Technicians (Yellow Belts) and Level 4 Improvement Practitioners (Green Belts) through the management and development of Consultant and Trainer coaches
The primary focus for our Business coaches is improved performance for our clients through the delivery of the Improvement Specialist level 5 apprenticeship standard. Experience of and the ability to train and coach individuals and teams in the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours of continuous Improvement is key to this.

In this role building a lasting capability through coaching people and teams to apply C.I & Six Sigma skills within the workplace, including, coaching and training CI project teams to achieve the Continuous Improvement Standards, are critical success factors.
Our Business Coaches must be proficient and experienced enough to support the training and delivery of operational improvement across a wide range of sectors and client situations and are expected to work well with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams. 

Role Requirements: 
= Working within a client or cluster of clients, to act as the training lead, mentor and coach for Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement activities. 
= Providing development, coaching and support to management teams to develop a strategy and manage and support improvement activities will be an essential element.
= Responsible for reviewing and developing existing training materials, advising on the development of new training content as required to support the Improvement Apprenticeship standards delivery. 
= To lead and project manage through consultant and trainer coaches, learners to qualification at:

  1. Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative
  2. Level 3 Improvement Technicians (Yellow Belts),
  3. Level 4 Improvement Practitioners (Green Belts) 
  4. Primary responsibility to provide training and coaching to achieve qualification of
  5. Level 4 Improvement Practitioners (Green Belts) 
  6. Level 5 Improvement Specialists (Black Belts)

= To support the set-up of an improvement and development infrastructure, programme governance and project management. 
= To assist the management team with the introduction of simple mechanisms and procedures that enable the easy transfer of requirements and knowledge sharing up, down and across functions and manufacturing areas. 
= This is a fulltime role and will include travel either within a region of the UK or to a specific client, a driving licence and access to a car is therefore essential. 
= Appropriate DBS clearance will be required.

Key Tasks

  • Planning, developing and delivering standards based training programmes and workshops specifically but not only Level 5 improvement specialist standard. (Black belt level)
  • Coaching candidates in their workplace.
  • Manage and support the team of consultant and trainer coaches in client organisations.
  • Developing relationships with client management teams to ensure that they are engaged and committed to the programmes.
  • Reviewing candidate portfolios of evidence using our BUD e-portfolio system.
  • Project managing the delivery of Functional Skills via BKSB in Maths and English at the required levels.
  • Monitor and evidence consultant & trainer coach workload and Apprentice progression.
  • Providing constructive feedback and offering advice and support to consultant & trainer coaches, managers and learners to ensure the programmes meet and exceed the required standards
  • Support the learning process through use of Improvement projects, learning resources and facilitating workplace off the job training as required
  • Plan EPA assessment process with learners and employers 
  • Engage and coach the line management team and consultant/trainer coaches to provide adequate support and guidance.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance throughout the learner’s qualification
  • Provide learners with all the relevant policies and regulations to clarify what is expected of them and to ensure their safety
  • Approve progression to EPA gateway when all the requirements have been met

The Individual
We value your industry knowledge and management experience and will be looking for a solid track record of Operational and Continuous improvement management as well as the ability to engage, enthuse and empower at all levels. You will have a real passion for sharing your knowledge and developing others and be able to demonstrate this.
You will be an effective communicator, able to successfully engage both employers and learners alike. An excellent planner, you will be able to manage your time effectively as well as conflicting priorities. You will have the ability to coach, develop and mentor people and proven experience of delivering training.  The ability to assess learners would be an advantage.

= Being able to work alone and as part of a team
= Data collection and create accurate reports
= Having a passion for helping people to develop
= The ability to relate to people at all levels
= Being able to explain the values / benefits of training and Apprenticeships to learners and employers
= Being able to clearly explain complex topics
= Have a strategic and commercial attitude
= Be a creative, lateral thinker and energetic team player with a high level of enthusiasm
= Have the ability to prioritise and work under pressure with good time management

Education Level requirement for this role:
= Black Belt or equivalent in Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement
= Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English or equivalent
= Minimum Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Workplace (CAVA/TAQA/A1/D32/33)
= Qualification as a trainer - PTLLS or other recognised teaching qualification 

Experience level required:
It is essential that you have at least 3-5 years’ experience of working within operational management and deploying black belt level improvement activities and can demonstrate this through occupational experience and associated qualifications.
