- Main Scope of Post:
To ensure general maintenance and undertake simple repairs for the equipment within the Electrical Installation Section. To provide assistance to lecturers in preparing equipment and resources for teaching and learning, be responsible for maintaining tool and equipment levels to an efficient level and carry out risk assessments and recommend improvements to ensure all aspects of health and safety are complied with.
Duties:
- To regularly service and maintain tools and equipment within the Electrical Installation and Plumbing Section.
- To carry out risk assessment in conjunction with the Academic Standards Manager in Building Services and recommend improvements.
- To report any major maintenance tasks to the Academic Standards Manager, ensure the least impact to teaching and learning.
- To raise purchase order request forms in order to maintain stock levels of materials and tools at a level which enables effective teaching and learning.
- To maintain cleanliness of teaching environments within the area of responsibility.
- To liaise with the Academic Standards Manager to ensure that all areas comply with health and safety and environmental requirements.
- To supervise, in conjunction with Lecturers, students working within the teaching areas with respect to health and safety and good working practice issues.
- To assist course teams in preparing materials and resources for teaching and learning.
- To assist the Lecturers in setting up equipment for teaching and learning within the postholder’s area of responsibility.
- To work with other Technicians to ensure continuity of provision across the Technical Apprenticeship School and Building Services School.
- To be willing to undertake first aid training and a willingness to become a first aider within the business.
Other:
- To take an active part in the appraisal and mentoring processes.
- To comply with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and assist the in the implementation of its own Health and Safety policy.
- To comply with and actively promote within the section the Equal Opportunities Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
- To participate in and contribute to the in-service and training activities.
- To participate in enrolment duties.
- To carry out all other duties as may be reasonably required and commensurate with the general scope and level of the post.
