Purpose of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for a Health & Social Care specialist to deliver across our clients Health Science programmes, specific to the Health Care sector.
Responsibilities
-
To deliver high standards of teaching and learning and to monitor assessment processes in accordance with awarding body requirements.
oTo deliver departmental requirements of core and additional programmes including Health and Social Care, Health Science and delivering on core Care modules.
oTo Support the delivery on the new transition and T level programme as well as support the strand in the delivery of BTEC level 1, 2, 3 and HE programmes as required by the demands of the curriculum.
oProducing sequenced schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans, learning materials and any other related activities that impact on the effectiveness of learning ensuring Ofsted Readiness.
oTo co-ordinate and maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out by the course team.
oTo communicate external examination entry and timetable arrangements to the course team and students.
oEnsure that all students are well prepared for assessments through exams and employer set projects.
oTo work pro-actively to forward the success and vision of the department and the company.

To be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment.
oTo observe and keep aware of Health and Safety documentation and procedures in line with company Policy.
oTo undertake classroom or workshop risk assessments if required.

To act as a Programme leader if suitable or requested to by undertaking the following responsibilities:
oTo liaise and agree a programme of learning with the Curriculum Manager.
oOrganise an induction programme for learners.
oIdentification of resource requirements i.e. staffing, specialist rooms, equipment, software, etc.
oTo take responsibility for IV, EV and final standards assessment, in line with exam board criteria.
oTo lead course planning and development ensuring that the provision meets the needs of all learners and stakeholders including administration i.e. timely completion and return of registers, Employers and HE Institutions.
oTo maintain and update a digital course file for each programme to be managed or that is taught on.

To support the co-ordination, planning and delivery of pastoral and tutorial provision for students including acting as a personal tutor for students to:
oDesign and deliver a tutorial curriculum in line with comapny requirements.
oAssist in the identification of student’s individual needs and in the co-ordination of relevant support to meet their needs.
oSupport all learners to find an appropriate work placement as all students are expected to achieve 60 hours per year, and T Level learners expected to complete 315 of work experience hours.
oSupport students to gain independence and confidence to immerse themselves into an occupational specialism.
oProvide pastoral support to learners, liaising with central support staff where necessary.
oMonitor attendance and learning progress using the tracking systems, updating records regularly and liaising with parents/carers if necessary.
oAssist students to set challenging targets to aid learning and personal development, with an emphasis on preparing for an occupational specialism.
oEnsure every learner receives careers education and guidance including an exit interview.
oEnsure that students have an opportunity to give feedback on their learning experience.
oTo evaluate the effectiveness of the course through the application of the course review and evaluation process.
oLiaise with parents and carers and ensure the timely completion of students’ progress reports that are forwarded to the same where appropriate.
oAct as a point of contact for communications to and from students.
oAttend personal tutor forums.

To ensure that course team members have access to:
oExternal documents – Examination Awarding Body policies, processes and procedures.
oInternal documents – curriculum policy, strategies, processes and procedures.

To co-ordinate the arrangements for the initial assessment of:
oThe attainment levels of learners in Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills.
oShare the results with course team members.
oTo support the recruitment, admission, enrolments and induction of learners onto the correct programme.

To ensure that individual students’ learning needs are met through the provision of:
oLearning support i.e. English, maths and digital.
oInitial Advice & Guidance i.e. to be involved in student interviews and the enrolment/induction process.
oSpecific Learner Support (ALS) according to EHCPs and High Needs learning strategies.

To Plan and attend appropriate meetings and liaise with:
oExternal verifiers/moderators.
oThe course teams, participate in other designated teams, and department team meetings, to implement effective quality improvement plans, and undertake marketing activity for the department where appropriate.
oExternal agencies e.g. employers.
oTo attend Open Events, VIP days and taster sessions to promote the company.
oTo participate in regular course team meetings.
Other Responsibilities:

Assist with the implementation of plans and systems as specified within the Quality/Continuous Improvement strategy.

To plan and participate in residential visits, off-site trips and activities, outside of the working day, as instructed by line manager.

To participate in training activities both in company and at external locations in respect of the curriculum and undertake a minimum of 30 hours of personal/professional development in each year of continuous employment.

To undertake other additional duties, consistent with the role as may be deemed appropriate by your line manager.
