ABOUT OUR CLIENT
Our client are the UK's leading trade organisation for building engineering services contractors – representing the interests of firms active in the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, control and management of engineering systems and services in buildings.
The team operate on behalf of the company and lead on all aspects of the skills agenda, from involvement in the development of apprenticeships and apprentice standards across all four devolved nations within the UK. This involves participation in the appropriate bodies and groups linked to sector skills. A major challenge for the team is to apply strategies and plans to address the skills gaps within the sectors and the work of the team is vital to secure the growth of skills within the UK. They are committed to supporting the members in driving a recognisably competent workforce for the sector fit for all future challenges.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Qualification & Skills Manager, the primary role for the job holder is to work to advance the provision of Professions and associated training courses within the Educational landscape through forming relationships with, and providing advice to, appropriate Further Education Colleges, independent training providers. Liaison with internal and external sector Technical Groups, ensuring that the skills needs and requirements of the company and its members are part of any outcomes.
A key aspect of the role will be to provide reports on all activity to company members and leadership groups. It is important to note that this role will involve understanding of apprenticeship landscape across all 4 UK nations, and therefore will require appropriate travel to fulfil this aspect of the role.
Key Duties
- Attraction and development of external training provision partnerships of new and existing Further Education providers into the sector, liaising with providers over potential expansions of current provision.
- Lead technical interface for the company within the apprenticeship and short course training provider population. This includes advising on the implementation of sector apprenticeships and short-course provision. Advising on practical workshop requirements, tutor / assessor requirements, kit, equipment and processes
- To support the strategic plans of the company in relation to fulfilling sector educational challenges such as the attraction of Tutors / Assessors / Auditors into the field of operation
- Provision of technical information to those developing internal and external learning solutions / competitions and training collateral as required
- Provision of regular reports and updates regarding role-specific activity
- Attendance at external meetings and specialist groups as required
- Attendance at career events to promote sector industries and provide employers and potential apprentices with up to date and relevant information concerning Building Services Engineering Trades
- Key technical and judging support as a Competition Organising Partner (COP) for World Skills Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Competition
- Promotion of SKILLcard through apprenticeship population as a trusted CSCS card-scheme
- Assistance to the Qualification & Skills Manager as required
- Support to Skills Advisor team as required.
ABOUT YOU
Skills & Knowledge – Essential
- Specialist knowledge of the Building Services Engineering / Facilities Management sector
- Knowledge of apprenticeship and funding systems across the four UK Nations
- An understanding of routes to apprenticeships and the subsequent training and assessment regime for each devolved nation’s qualification system
- Strong knowledge of the wider sector training environment such as F-Gas and Air & Grease Hygiene
- Highly developed communication, external liaison and stakeholder management skills
- A clear understanding of the role Quality Assurance plays in Learning Delivery – qualifications, short courses and apprenticeships.
- Knowledge of the processes and policies within awarding organisations.
- Full, clean driving licence and the ability to travel within the UK
Skills & Knowledge – Desirable
- Hold an occupational competency and delivery experience within the Building Engineering services Further Education sector
- Experience of conducting assessment, assurance and audit activity
- Experience of working and collaborating with 3rd party organisations
- Experience of project development and delivery.
