ROLE PURPOSE
Our client is looking for Functional Skills Tutor and Learning Support Lead to ensure day-to-day responsibility for the coordination and high-quality delivery of Our clients defined Academy programmes, with a focus on Functional Skills and Learning Support. To be the main point of contact for learners, design & deliver workshop sessions, carry out regular progress reviews, and provide huddles and assessment preparation sessions. The role requires careful monitoring of learner progress, interpreting data and feedback to ensure individual learners are on track to reach their potential and achieve their qualification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage allocated Functional Skills programmes and 1-2-1 sessions, including scheduling, timetabling, initial assessment, onboarding, and resource provision via the Learning Management System.
- Deliver workshops & 1-2-1 sessions (predominantly online, with occasional face-to-face sessions) that meets our clients Academy’s design principles and quality criteria.
- Ensure all KPIs are met, including provision of timely marking and feedback on coursework, ensuring clarity and constructiveness in communication.
- Track assignments, progress milestones, and attendance using data packs, taking swift action if progress is below expectations.
- Ensure all necessary programme materials and resources are available and correctly uploaded onto the Learning Management System.
- Work with the Operations Team and Functional Skills & Quality Coordinator to ensure smooth assessment activities and timely communication of results to learners, line managers, and employers.
- Act as the primary contact for learners requiring Additional Learning Needs Support (ALNS), conducting needs analyses and developing individualised learner progress plans.
- Collaborate with programme leads and stakeholders to integrate support strategies into apprenticeship programmes.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records for each learner, including timely administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with GDPR and internal privacy policies.
- Compile and update monthly ALNS reports, attending meetings to review provision quality and identify improvements.
- Liaise with the Functional Skills & Quality Co-ordinator to ensure all reasonable adjustments are captured and promptly communicated to delivery team and End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs).
- Stay current with educational advancements to provide relevant support and ensure all delivery meets the Academy, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements.
- As required, develop and deliver short CPD sessions for programme leads, participating in Apprenticeship Best Practice sessions and sharing learner support strategies.
- Build and curate an ALNS resource pack for consistent learner support delivery across the Academy.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Teaching qualification is essential.
- Experience in the delivery of maths and English Functional Skills.
- Experience in supporting learners with individual learning needs with a range of strategies to suit.
- Strong knowledge of apprenticeships, including DDT, EPA, and Ofsted requirements (training will be given).
- An engaging and enthusiastic presenter/facilitator with the ability to deliver high-quality training virtually and face to face.
- Ability to interpret data/feedback to identify problems and implement solutions.
- Excellent coaching skills to ensure all learners reach their full potential and achieve successful outcomes. Confident when dealing with line managers and learners.
- Able to share success stories and promote the Academy’s work (internally and externally) to grow awareness of the Academy brand.
- Highly collaborative, with good interpersonal skills – persuasive, bright, and positive.
- Trained in Safeguarding, Prevent, and GDPR (this can be provided).
- SENCo qualification preferred (can be provided).
