Overview
I am currently working with a respected and expanding training provider who is seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Officer Trainer to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a safeguarding professional with hands-on experience in children’s residential care to step into a rewarding training and development role. The position offers a blend of national travel for face-to-face delivery alongside home-based working, providing flexibility and autonomy.
The Role
As a DSO Apprenticeship Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality learning aligned to the Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard. You will work closely with apprentices in safeguarding roles, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills required to succeed in their positions and meet End-Point Assessment (EPA) criteria.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver training and support in line with the Designated Safeguarding Officer Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

Facilitate a mix of online and in-person sessions to ensure relevant, contextualised learning experiences

Track learner progress, provide regular feedback, and support successful EPA preparation

Adapt delivery methods to meet individual learner needs and workplace environments

Maintain compliance with ESFA funding rules, internal procedures, and Ofsted requirements

Promote high standards of safeguarding practice and contribute to the development of the next generation of safeguarding professionals
About You – Essential Criteria

At least 3 years’ experience in a safeguarding role within a children’s residential care setting

Proven experience of carrying out risk assessments, managing safeguarding cases, referrals, and working with multi-agency teams

Strong understanding of key legislation and statutory guidance, such as:

Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015

Ofsted’s Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex information

Confident using virtual delivery platforms and Microsoft Office

Willingness and ability to travel across the UK as required
Desirable Experience

Previous experience delivering training, apprenticeships, or internal development programmes

Understanding of Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework

Familiarity with the End-Point Assessment process
Qualifications Required
-
Recognised teaching or training qualification (e.g. AET, CET, DET, TAQA or equivalent)

Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Officer qualification (minimum)

Functional Skills Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths

Full UK driving licence
