Job Title: Bricklaying Lecturer
Directorate: Teaching and Learning
Department: Construction & Building Services
Reporting To: Assistant Head of Department
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Salary: £28,385 – £41,782 per annum (pro-rated if part-time)
Superannuation Scheme: Teachers’ Pension Scheme
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Annual Leave: 42 days per annum (pro-rated if part-time)
Primary Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality teaching and learning and to undertake associated tutorial duties. The post holder will contribute to course design, programme development, and the wider expansion of the area.
Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to a timetable that may include evenings, Saturdays and summer periods.
1.1 Deliver inspirational teaching across a range of programmes to learners of varying ages and abilities.
1.2 Provide teaching and assessment opportunities in line with awarding body requirements to promote achievement.
1.3 Develop and maintain teaching materials including handouts, assignments, booklists, assessment papers and electronic resources.
1.4 Prepare Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment.
1.5 Undertake moderation, assessment and verification activities.
1.6 Work with colleagues to integrate Maths and English into the vocational curriculum.
2. Tutorial Responsibilities
2.1 Act as a course tutor with responsibility for supporting learners to achieve their targets.
2.2 Track and review student progress and maintain accurate records.
2.3 Provide feedback on learner progress to students, parents/guardians and employers.
2.4 Arrange and support the work placement programme.3. Recruitment and Admissions
3.1 Assist in the recruitment and admission of new students.
3.2 Attend internal and external promotional events to publicise our client's activities as directed.
4. Teamwork, Liaison and Administration
4.1 Participate in course team reviews and evaluations.
4.3 Respond to curriculum development and new course initiatives.
4.4 Advise on resource requirements for effective programme delivery.
4.5 Liaise with awarding body representatives such as External Verifiers and Moderators.5. Professional Development and Industry Engagement
5.1 Develop industrial links within the construction industry.
5.2 Maintain personal research or professional practice for ongoing professional development.
5.3 Familiarise yourself with and adhere to our client's procedures.6. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Special Conditions
- This role is defined as regulated activity. The post holder must hold an enhanced DBS check acceptable to our client.
Professional Training Requirement (Teaching Staff)
Our client supports teaching staff in achieving formal teaching qualifications and will provide training where individuals do not already hold a Certificate in Education, PGCE or equivalent. Staff appointed from 1 September 2001 must obtain the relevant teaching qualification within a specified timeframe, depending on role and teaching hours.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Level 3 vocational qualification in Bricklaying
- GCSE Grade C / Level 4 or equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable / To Be Developed:
- Certificate in Education, PGCE, DTLLS or DET
- Assessor qualification (A1 or equivalent)
- Internal Verification qualification (V1 or equivalent)
Related Experience
Essential:
- Substantial, recent and relevant industrial experience in Bricklaying or Construction Maintenance
Special Circumstances
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends where required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential:
- Current industry Health & Safety knowledge
