Description

Vacancy: Additional Learning Support Lead
Location: Remote with occasional travel if required
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum

Our client is seeking an inspiring Additional Learning Support Lead to develop their Additional Learning Support function, drive quality, innovation, and inclusion across their programmes, and ensure that learners remain at the centre of all activity.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dynamic education professional to make a meaningful impact on the learning experience and outcomes of apprentices nationwide. As the Additional Learning Support Lead, you will ensure that every learner—regardless of their starting point—has the tools, confidence, and support needed to succeed.

You will champion diversity and inclusion, ensuring that all learners feel fully supported by the client’s expert teams from day one and throughout their journey. Your work will contribute directly to helping learners overcome barriers, achieve their qualifications, and progress confidently in their careers.

As the Additional Learning Support Lead, you will:

  • Promote inclusive teaching and learning practices and break down perceived barriers.
  • Ensure that the support networks of learners with ALN understand how to support them throughout their apprenticeship.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within the learner’s support network to ensure a joined-up approach.
  • Drive and increase engagement of learners matched on the client’s learner systems and collate information to provide monthly performance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with ESFA and Ofsted requirements, particularly regarding ALS funding.
  • Recognise and refer learners for further assessments where adjustments are necessary.
  • Stay informed of changes within Aptem for assigned modules and levels, regularly reviewing progress against specifications.
  • Consult with the quality team and contribute to quality assurance initiatives where required.
  • Provide ongoing support for programmes with current/new curriculum delivery (including Safeguarding and Prevent topics such as Cyber Safety) in line with external requirements (e.g., Ofsted).
  • Ensure learners are working in line with their training and support plans across ALS.
  • Identify and implement innovations in teaching and learning to enhance learner outcomes and engagement.
  • Analyse learner progress and achievement data, identifying trends and areas requiring intervention.
  • Report regularly to senior management on KPIs, achievement rates, and the impact of support strategies.
  • Adhere to GDPR legislation and all internal information and data security policies and procedures.
  • Actively promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people encountered in the role.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Safeguarding qualification
  • Training qualification (e.g., AET, CET, Cert Ed, PGCE, PTTLS or equivalent)
  • Experience leading an Additional Learning Support provision in a college, further education, or training environment
  • Extensive experience planning sessions and adapting resources for individual needs
  • Proven experience meeting targets and deadlines, with strong personal drive
  • Demonstrable ability to work independently and achieve results without close supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with learners, colleagues, employers, and external agencies
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to use initiative to meet targets and deadlines
  • A motivating and energising approach that positively influences others
  • Access to a car or ability to travel and stay overnight when required
