Business Development Manager
Summary
We're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help us engage even more employers in our apprenticeship programmes. In your first year, your mission will be to deliver at least 50 new apprenticeship starts, the majority of these with levy paying organisations in London.
Your job will be to actively hunt for new business. You'll slot into our existing processes and be as at home on the phone making calls, as you are at networking events, business breakfasts and client meetings. You'll work closely with our team of Talent Managers and Talent Scouts to oversee the account management of each of your clients, and you'll build great relationships with those clients to ensure that they come to our client every time they need an apprentice.
But most of all, you'll be passionate about values, changing the lives of young people and about engaging businesses in apprenticeships.

What you’ll be doing:
Strategy
- Understand and further develop the value proposition for our corporate customers, generating a strategy for addressing common customer needs
- Build relationships at all levels in target organisations to increase their engagement in apprenticeships
Prospecting and Networking
- Identify ideal customers and conduct targeted activity to engage with key people within those organisations.
- Attend networking events and industry forums to meet and engage with new and potential target customers
- Identify opportunities to participate in events
Account Nurturing
- Consistently nurture and develop relationships with key contacts in target organisations and existing customers.
- Work with key contacts to develop apprenticeship strategies that increase the number of apprentices organisations hire.
Sales Conversion
- With the support of other senior team leaders, generate opportunities to pitch to leadership level contacts in target organisations and prepare the pitch documents.
- Ensure client education plays a key role in sales process, with the fees and considerations around hiring apprentices laid out upfront.
- Manage successful relationship handover to account management team to ensure that they are passed warm leads.
- Process Management
- Keep CRM tool updated with correct client details, pipeline of prospective deals and updated forecasts. Ensure all documentation is stored on our CRM system.
What you’ll bring:
- You have experience of working in HR, CSR or Recruitment in a corporate environment, and a keen understanding of the common problems of professionals in these roles.
- You have the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with customers, helping them to find practical and mutually beneficial solutions to problems
- You love hunting for new business, nurturing leads and getting new accounts over the line.
- You are a people-person who enjoys learning and growing, personally and professionally.
- You care deeply about client experience.
- You are passionate about helping young people start their careers at amazing companies and this inspires you to drive the demand side of the marketplace.
- You have a proven track record in driving new business growth and have a consultative sales approach.
- You are not afraid to walk away from potential business if the opportunity doesn’t meet our quality threshold.
- You understand the importance of data driven decision making.
