Location: Hull & Grimsby
Salary: £46,000
Our client is a leading Group Training Association delivering high-quality engineering apprenticeships and commercial training to over 300 employers. With centres across Lincolnshire and partnerships with major engineering and manufacturing organisations, they play a key role in developing the next generation of engineering talent.
The Role
They are seeking an experienced Fabrication & Welding Training Lead professional ready to take the next step into leadership. Reporting to the Centre Manager, the Fabrication & Welding Training Lead will lead a team of instructors delivering apprenticeship and commercial programmes (including Metal Fabrication, Pipe Welding and Pipefitting), while also contributing to delivery yourself.
This is a varied, hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same.
Fabrication & Welding Training Lead Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate fabrication and welding training across their sites
- Ensure high-quality, consistent delivery aligned with agreed syllabi and schemes of work
- Manage curriculum development to meet industry and awarding body standards
- Conduct learning walks, observations, and quality deep dives
- Oversee workshop operations, ensuring Health & Safety compliance
- Support team performance management, appraisals, and CPD
- Monitor learner progress, attendance, and outcomes to maintain Ofsted readiness
- Work with Sales and employers to ensure curriculum relevance and generate commercial income
- Act as their lead for TWI Welding Inspection (training provided if required)
- Support learner discipline, welfare, and work-readiness
Experience & Qualifications
- Significant industry experience in fabrication and welding (e.g. welding, pipefitting, plating, sheet metal)
- Level 3 qualification or completed apprenticeship in a relevant trade
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent)
- Strong leadership, organisational, IT, and budget awareness skills
- Assessor/Verifier and TWI qualifications desirable (training provided if needed)
Location & Travel
Regular travel between sites is required. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential. Mileage and bridge tolls are paid.
