Job Title: Employment Coach
Location: Aylesbury
Contract: Fixed term until June 2028
Salary: £27,900 per annumThe role:
Our client is seeking a passionate and motivated Employment Coach to support participants on their employment programme who have been out of work for six months or more. You will help individuals identify and overcome barriers to employment, develop confidence and skills, and progress into sustainable work.
The Employment Coach will manage a caseload of participants, providing personalised guidance, coaching and practical support. Through assessments and action planning, you will help participants recognise their strengths, develop employability skills and achieve their employment goals.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C or above (essential).
Experience & Skills
- Experience working in employment support, welfare-to-work, recruitment, sales, or another target-driven environment.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritise competing demands.
- Strong communication, influencing and listening skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and motivate individuals.
- Creative and solution-focused approach to overcoming barriers.
- Knowledge of local labour markets, employers and support services.
- Ability to develop effective internal and external partnerships.
- Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office and online communication tools.
- Excellent organisation skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Understanding of GDPR, confidentiality and contractual requirements.
- A values-led approach with a commitment to supporting others.
Key Responsibilities
- Build effective relationships with participants, supporting and challenging them to overcome barriers to employment.
- Complete assessments to understand individual needs, skills and employment goals.
- Create personalised action plans to support progression into sustainable work.
- Provide careers guidance, coaching and signposting to relevant services.
- Support participants with CVs, applications, covering letters and online profiles.
- Deliver job search guidance and support access to relevant job opportunities.
- Identify training and development opportunities based on individual needs.
- Work with employers, partners and support services to create employment opportunities.
- Prepare participants for interviews through coaching, practice sessions and feedback.
- Ensure participants access appropriate workshops and tailored support.
- Maintain accurate records and update systems to reflect participant progress.
- Achieve agreed performance targets and quality standards.
- Promote safeguarding, equality and wellbeing in all interactions.
This role requires flexibility, professionalism and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities, including occasional travel between locations where required.
