Location: Birmingham

Salary: £32,000

 

Job Summary

To assess, support, and guide learners completing Social Care Apprenticeships, Diplomas, and relevant qualifications. The Adult Care Tutor and IQA ensures timely achievement, high-quality learning experiences, and compliance with awarding body, Ofsted, and regulatory requirements. The post-holder will use their sector expertise to support the professional development and career progression of team members through effective training and assessment.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment and Learner Support

  • Deliver high-quality assessment using a range of methods, including observations, professional discussions, and work-based evidence.
  • Support learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required by apprenticeship standards.
  • Conduct progress reviews, set SMART targets, and provide coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Prepare learners for End-Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Act as the main point of contact for learners throughout their programme.
  • Work closely with managers to support workplace learning and development.

Quality and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate learner records in line with organisational, awarding body, and funding requirements.
  • Ensure assessment decisions meet Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) standards.
  • Support compliance with Ofsted Education Inspection Framework, DfE funding rules, safeguarding, Prevent, equality and diversity, and data protection requirements.
  • Participate in standardisation, quality improvement activities, and provide written reports as required.

General Responsibilities

  • Support staff induction and completion of the Care Certificate for new employees.
  • Promote learning and development opportunities across the organisation.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Provide consultancy support outside rostered hours when required.

Professional Development

  • Maintain current occupational competence within health and social care.
  • Complete ongoing CPD and keep up to date with sector developments, legislation, apprenticeship standards, and best practice.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Current experience working in social care, supporting vulnerable adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions.
  • Knowledge of social care legislation, including Fundamental Standards.
  • Experience assessing Health and Social Care qualifications up to Level 5.
  • Understanding of apprenticeship standards and EPA processes.
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective assessments using varied methods.
  • Strong communication, coaching, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to support learners at all stages of professional development.
  • Competent using IT systems, e-portfolios, Microsoft Office, and digital learning tools.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between CTTM services.

Essential Qualifications

  • Leader in Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification aligned to the standard.
  • Level 3 Assessing qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).

Desirable Qualifications

  • IQA qualification or equivalent.
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent teaching qualification.
